Gift #640

Aristotle triggered a revolution in happiness during the time when Greek philosophers were trying hard to define precisely what this state of being was.

1. Some contended that it sprang from hedonism, the pursuit of sensual pleasure.

2. Others argued from the perspective of tragedy, believing happiness to be a goal, a final destination that made the drudge of life worthwhile.

3. Aristotle proposed a third option, the idea of eudaemonic happiness, which said, essentially, that happiness was not merely a feeling, or a golden promise, but a practice. “It’s living in a way that fulfills our purpose”

So stop hoping for happiness tomorrow. Happiness is being engaged in the process. Happiness is the progressive realisation of a worthy goal or ideal.
This kind of Eudaemonic happiness has positive impact on our health too (read - http://twinklet801.blogspot.in/2016/01/gift-450.html for details)
